That Time I Was Scraping a Wasp Nest and Elliot in the Morning Was Talking About Me

Some stories start with "I was in my studio, working on a new illusion." This one starts with me in my parents' attic in Florida, scraping a wasp nest off the wall.
That's when my phone started blowing up.
Turns out, Elliot in the Morning was on the air talking about magic — and somehow my name came up. Friends, fans, people I hadn't heard from in years, all texting some version of "are you listening to this?!" I was not. I was covered in wasp-nest debris and had a smell best described as 'Florida'.
A few messages later, we had a plan. Elliot's listeners were getting a free magic event — and I wasn't doing it alone. I brought in Victor Oriza to work the crowd with strolling close-up magic, the kind that turns a room full of strangers into a room full of "wait, how did you just do that?"
I've listened to Elliot's voice for years — one of those voices that's just always been there in the background of mornings. Meeting him in person, he was exactly as easygoing and genuinely kind as you'd hope he'd be. No ego, just curiosity and good energy, and he worked the room to make sure everyone was having fun. It's obvious why he doesn't have listeners, he has raving fans.
And Victor? Victor showed up and killed it. Strolling magic is a different animal — no stage, no safety net, just you, a deck of cards, and someone's drink in your other hand — and he worked the room like he'd been doing it for Elliot's crew for years. Every card, every reaction, every "no way" — right on cue.
By the end of it, Elliot was hooked, the listeners were buzzing, and I was just grateful the whole thing started because a bunch of people in a radio audience remembered my name.
I couldn't be more grateful.
Listen to the entire segment above.
